Efficient Multimodal Transportation of Nacelle and Hub Units from Chennai to Bhuj
In response to a challenging inquiry for the transportation of 200 Nacelle and Hub units from Chennai to Bhuj, Gujarat—a journey spanning 2,500 kilometers—NTC Logistics devised an innovative solution to meet the stringent timeline of three months. Given the estimated turnaround time of 30 days for Nacelles and 20 days for Hubs via road transport, it became evident that completing the movement within the specified period by road alone was improbable.
To overcome this logistical challenge, NTC Logistics proposed a well-calculated multimodal transportation strategy that integrated both road and coastal shipping. This approach not only enhanced efficiency but also optimized the overall movement of the cargo.
The transportation process commenced with the pre-carriage phase, which involved transporting the units from Mamandur to Chennai Port. Following this, the carriage phase saw the cargo shipped from Chennai Port to Kandla Port, utilizing coastal routes that significantly reduced transit times. Finally, the on-carriage segment involved the seamless delivery of the Nacelles and Hubs from Kandla Port to the various wind farm sites in Bhuj.
This strategic multimodal solution provided numerous customer benefits. Firstly, it resulted in a significant reduction in overall transportation costs compared to a solely road-based approach. Additionally, the combination of coastal and road transport ensured on-time delivery, adhering to the project’s critical deadlines. The methodology also mitigated the risk of potential transit damage, which is often a concern with prolonged road transportation.
Furthermore, NTC Logistics maintained a commitment to quality execution throughout the process, providing timely updates on the movement status. This transparent communication ensured that the customer remained informed at every stage, reinforcing NTC’s dedication to delivering excellence in project logistics.
