NTC Logistics recently completed the challenging transportation of a massive 203 MT transformer from BHEL, Bhopal to Ennore, Tamil Nadu. With dimensions of 6.2 x 4.7 x 4.7 meters, this transformer exemplified the complexities of over-dimensional cargo (ODC) and required meticulous planning, precision handling, and seamless execution across the entire 2,020-kilometer journey.

The nature of this transformer’s weight and size demanded specialized equipment, and NTC deployed a 15-line Goldhofer axle trailer, renowned for its stability and load-carrying capacity, to navigate the varying terrains and ensure safe transit. Our dedicated project logistics team meticulously charted the route from Bhopal to Ennore, accounting for potential roadblocks, terrain challenges, and regulatory requirements. Each turn, bridge, and traffic constraint was carefully planned to maintain the integrity of the equipment and avoid any delays.

The transportation also required securing various permissions, including clearance for road modifications and approvals to manage the transformer’s safe passage through urban and rural settings. NTC’s team of experts worked in close coordination with local authorities, arranging for route adjustments and traffic management where necessary. Additionally, our Quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team was on-site, ensuring all safety protocols were stringently followed, protecting both the crew and the cargo throughout the journey.
